“Rita” lives in Arlington Heights and came to me seeking hypnotherapy to reduce stress in the fall of 2014. She had recently gone through a bitter divorce and felt her grown children were being manipulated by her ex-husband. She felt alone and was afraid she would not be able to survive financially. Rita was unable to sleep. She reported that she could not concentrate at work and was losing weight because she had no appetite.
Symptoms of Stress

Studies show that stress increases the risk of obesity, heart disease, asthma, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, depression, gastrointestinal problems. Stress can also affect your breathing and heart rate and I thought Rita could use my help.
Three hypnotherapy sessions were scheduled one week apart. I explained to Rita that we would target her stress, her grief and her self-confidence.
Overcoming Stress from Divorce
At the end of the three sessions Rita reported feeling emotionally stronger and had enjoyed having dinner with her daughter. Rita continued to schedule sessions as needed after the initial three while completing training to become a realtor.
On our last visit this past June, she told me she had repaired her relationship with her kids and had opened a civil dialog with her ex-husband. She was also about to close her first real-estate transaction. She said “It’s not a huge sale, but it’s a start! I could not have done it without your support and help finding my peace and my strength again.”
This is why I love what I do. Sometimes we get lost, but we have the map inside of us. We just need someone to turn on the map light!
